The organisations below support you in exploring the professional options that are available in the world of work and prepare you for professional encounters in the future.

Rare Recruitment are a graduate recruitment company who work with high achieving students through and after university to get into high powered careers such as Law, Finance, Banking, Consultancy etc. They work with some of the biggest firms in all these sectors.

UpReach boosts social mobility by supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access and secure top jobs. While UpReach only supports students from when they start university, if you are currently in Year 13, you can register for their support and visit aspire to download UpReach's free 36 page guide providing you with information on exciting careers you may be interested in pursuing.

In order to be an upReach Associate, you must:

  • Have a household income below £42,620

  • Have attended UK state schools only (or since age 14 if you were educated abroad before then)

  • Have achieved (or have a REALrating* equivalent to) at least BBB in your top 3 A-Levels or an equivalent qualification (including Access to Higher Education courses)

  • Have achieved at least a C in GCSE Maths and English

  • Be over 18

  • Currently be an undergraduate that is in full-time study at a UK university.**

  • Not be studying social work, nursing, dentistry or medicine

SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity) Schools help achieving students in Years 11-13 broaden their horizons by aiding with access to academic, professional and enrichment opportunities. They organise events that will provide you with the opportunity to explore your options, helping you make informed choices about your future. After Year 13, you have the chance to sign up to SEO Careers, which will further support you in the professional options that are available and help launch your career.

The Social Mobility Foundation (SMF) is a charity which aims to make a practical improvement in social mobility for young people and provide opportunities. This charity also provides networks of support for 16-17 year olds who are unable to get them from their schools or families.

As well as extending their support to young people at university across their 11 career sectors (Accountancy, Architecture, Banking & Finance, Biology & Chemistry, Business, Digital, Engineering & Physics, Law, Media & Communications, Medicine, or Politics), their beneficial Aspiring Professionals Programme now support young people wherever they live in the UK.

Eligibility

• Currently in Year 12
• Achieved at least 4 or 5 7/A grades at GCSE*
• Predicted ABB at A level or equivalent
• Eligible for free school meals OR first generation to attend university**

This program is designed to support high-achieving students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The Sutton Trust offer Summer Schools over 40 different courses at 13 of the UK’s top universities.
They will cover the full costs of your travel, accommodation, food and activities at any partner university.

Eligibility:

  • Are studying in Year 12 in England or Wales, Year 13 in Northern Ireland, or S5 in Scotland

  • Attend, and have always attended, a state-funded school or college (non-fee paying) in the UK

Uptree is an online professional network and careers platform. They inspire and motivate young people with information on different career pathways, whilst fine-tuning and connecting future talent with employers for face-to-face events and opportunities. Uptree aims for all young people to have access to opportunities to connect with multiple professionals before they leave education.

IntoUniversity is a United Kingdom-based charity that aims to help disadvantaged young people gain a place within a higher education establishment. It provides encouragement to children and young people aged 7-18 in pursuing further education.

Nuffield Research Placements are engaging research projects, where students have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution towards the work of a host organisation. They are a fantastic opportunity for students to apply skills and knowledge learned at school and work alongside researchers and industry professionals to:

- Develop subject understanding alongside research and quantitative skills to expand career prospects.

- Learn more about higher education and different career paths.

- Enhance UCAS personal statements and applications to university.

- Apply for a Gold CREST Award or the Big Bang Competition.

Eligibility: 

  • Be over 16 years old and in Year 12 or S5.

  • Be in full-time state-funded education in the UK.

  • Have at least 5 GCSEs at Level 6 or above OR Scottish Nationals at Level B or above, including maths, a science subject and English (or another humanities subject).

  • Be studying one or more A-level, Scottish Higher (or equivalent) in science, technology, engineering, economics, geography, psychology, computing, statistics or maths.

  • Be available for 4-6 weeks of their summer holiday.

Target Oxbridge is a free programme that aims to help black African and Caribbean students and students of mixed race with black African and Caribbean heritage increase their chances of getting into the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge (known collectively as Oxbridge). Since launching in 2012, Target Oxbridge has helped 140 students to secure Oxbridge offers. 

​

Eligibility:

- The programme is open to UK-based students in Year 12 (as well as, in certain circumstances Year 13).

- Ideally have achieved 5 GCSEs at grades 9, 8 or 7.

- Priority will be given to applicants from state schools.

The Brokerage is a City of London based social mobility charity connecting young Londoners and employers.

They've been helping young people from London’s state schools access work experience placements, employability skills and jobs through their partnerships with employers.

They have introduced tens of thousands of young Londoners to careers and helped thousands to access actual career opportunities.

Their mission is to work with young people from disadvantaged and under-represented backgrounds to raise awareness, develop skills and create access to financial professional and related services with the aims of increasing social mobility and diversity in the workplace.

Eligibility:

  • Have been eligible for free school meals at any point in the past six years
    OR previous generations in your family haven’t attended university in the UK

  • Have attained grades A*-C/9-5 at GCSE English Literature, English Language and Maths

  • Be eligible to work in the UK
